Inagural Post

So, here you have it. My inaugural blog post. And you can say that you were one of the first to see it. Please let me know when you do see it, and subscribe if you want to hear my random ramblings about professional selling.

What started me on this? Well, first and foremost is being "temporarily" unemployed. I say temporarily because I am actively working to change that status to "employed". As I work on my networking through LinkedIn and other social settings, I have seen more and more blogs on various subjects, but of course tons of them on selling. I know I have lots to say, but up until this point in time, no soapbox of my own to stand on.

I came across this article today.

I have a feeling I have seen it before, but not having had a place to record it and record my thoughts about it, I can only guess. The site calls it a "classic" article, but I don't know its actual age. What I do know is that it has a lot to say to B2B salepeople, despite being originally oriented towards retail sales.

There are two major points in the article:
1) Not everyone can be a sales professional
2) Their 6 factors of success to becoming a sales professional

Very few, if any, of us claimed when we were 6 or 8 years old, "I want to be a salesperson when I grow up." Yet here we are as sales professionals now. What brought you here? Are you happy in this role? Are you successful? Do you want to be more successful?

I am running out of time today (took me ages to get this set up and then figure out what I was going to write about first - and how many people are even going to see this in the early days??), so I will cut short today and come back to talk about this article more, and to pick apart the 6 factors of success. Your feedback and discussion are greatly appreciated.
